Thiago Alcantara was a steal at £ 25million when Liverpool won his signing last year, but the Spain midfielder has had a tough first season in the Premier League.
Finding the back of the net just once in 30 appearances in all competitions, Thiago then found himself from the substitutes bench for the entire Spanish Euro 2020 campaign.
While he has a rocky start in Merseyside, the Liverpool midfielder and the football world know how incredible he is, with former Liverpool player Paul Stewart recounting This is Futbol: “He is greatly appreciated, I know that”.
While ending up from the bench for Spain, Thiago will return to relatively fresh club football and hope that with a good preseason behind him he will have a regular birth alongside Jurgen Klopp, something Paul Stewart knows the player will want.
“It’s all about the minutes on the pitch and what you do in those minutes.
“He (Thiago) hopes he will have more minutes and hopes he can prove that he is there.”
With Liverpool challenging on all four fronts (Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup) again next season, there will be plenty of opportunities to impress for Thiago.
