Leeds United’s summer 2020 transfer policy has proven to be successful.
Much of the club’s business has been carried on in a covert fashion, with successful moves for Rodrigo Moreno and Raphinha without a long and drawn-out transfer saga.
While the aforementioned Brazil-born duo, along with Diego Llorente and Robin Koch have become Premier League debutants after previously playing abroad, other teams have changed their arms with league acquisitions.
Ollie Watkins was snatched from Brentford by former Bees boss Dean Smith, while top QPR man Eberechi Eze swapped Loftus Road for Selhurst Park and Crystal Palace.
The 2020/21 campaign has proven to be a success for these two players, who have proven that the progression to the Premier League is manageable, given the platform to showcase their talent.
Both players were nominated for a call-up from England ahead of this summer’s European Championships, although an injury to Achilles suffered in training by Eze deprived him of that elusive international arc.
Watkins does appear to be a strong contender, however, to be named to Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for the Euros, which is expected to be announced tomorrow.
This policy of Premier League mid-table teams buying the best of the league is a proven method.
Jarrod Bowen’s move from Hull City to West Ham United was also a successful change.
Consequently, Michael olise – currently from Reading – could be the next to make the jump, and there is no shortage of suitors.
New reports say Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among those, including Leeds United, eager to sign the French teenager.

Olise recorded 12 assists and scored seven league goals in 2020/21, an impressive harvest.
The 19-year-old is said to have a £ 8million release clause in his contract, although this claim is disputed by recruiting sources.
Still, Olise is unlikely to charge a fee similar to Watkins’ asking price of £ 30million, but might be achievable for around half that figure – closer to Eze’s sale.
Hypothetically, the addition of Olise would not see him enter the Leeds side right away – he would be forced to demonstrate his effectiveness in this No.8 attacking role.
But, he promises to be a huge advantage, given his performances in a mid-table championship team.

Olise has a knack for finding unlikely through balls, has good kick delivery and enjoys operating in the same pockets of space that Pablo Hernandez has become synonymous with.
At 19, one would expect him to play a small role, similar to Tyler Roberts this season, but his natural creative ability could soon oust the Welshman.
The fact North London couple Arsenal and Spurs seem interested in the Reading man is an indication of the markets in which Leeds United currently operates.
Whites are no longer constrained – they present as much of a professional challenge as appearing for Spurs or Gunners, even though both London clubs could offer considerably higher salaries.
Olise’s 2020/21 season suggests it will be his last in the league, with a move to the Premier League beckoning.
Given the saga-type speculation already transferred around Leeds’ interest, it is likely that Whites will not budge, due to the way they tend to conduct their transfer business.
Nonetheless, if Victor Orta learns that Olise is available at a reduced price, it may be an option they are looking to explore.
