Phil Foden has revealed that Manchester City’s ruthless 4-1 win over Liverpool in January was the highlight of his season.
The PFA Young Player of the Year has had an excellent season at City this quarter, consolidating his position in the Blues’ first team with his outstanding performances and he added the Premier League and Carabao Cup to his already impressive track record.
Foden, 21, was rewarded with a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s European Championship and he started on the right wing against Croatia on Sunday as the Three Lions won 1-0 thanks to Raheem Sterling’s goal in the second half.
The Stockport boy was the youngest player on the pitch for England at Wembley, although as usual Foden played with maturity beyond his years and he was unfortunate enough not to score in hitting the post in the first exchanges.

He is now reflecting on his club-level season with City, sharing his personal highlight of another memorable campaign.
“We hadn’t won there for so long [Anfield] and I think that gave us the confidence to continue and win the championship, “Foden told the premier league added when asked about his highlight of the season.
“It was a great season for me. I enjoyed it very much. I’m happy to have scored so many goals this year and I think I have taken a step forward in my game.
“Every day he [Guardiola] has so many details to improve every player. I feel like he’s improved my game a lot and I just enjoy working with him every day. “
