Crystal Palace was ready to fund a major move for Wolves winger Adama Traore if Nuno got the job at Selhurst Park.

According to Europort reporter Dean Jones, the Eagles were ready to step up for the in-demand winger as part of their attempt to lure Nuno into south London.

Wolves face a big fight to keep Traore at Molineux this summer amid strong interest from Chelsea and Leeds United.

But Traore could already have been on the move if Nuno had become Palace manager, although that change never materialized and he has just been appointed Spurs boss.

Jones said Talking from the sideline : “I’m not sure about Traore at Chelsea in particular, but I think it’s very reasonable to expect him to leave.

“Leeds are very interested in signing him and I know that when Nuno was in talks with Crystal Palace he spoke to Crystal Palace about wanting Traore at Crystal Palace and wanted them to move forward. They were ready to do so. if he did, sign a contract.

“I think Traore himself will look around and think, ‘Okay, the whole club is changing, it’s time for me to change too. “Obviously he’s ambitious and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s one of the big names who end up leaving.

The claims come as Wolves appear set to seal Rayan Ait-Nouri’s £ 10million transfer amid reports they have made a breakthrough in their bid to sign the French left-back.

The Angers defender, who spent last season on loan at Molineux, is set to write a permanent contract – and Wolves have saved £ 8million in the process.

Wolves had the option of buying Ait-Nouri for £ 18million at the end of his last-term loan, but have since haggled the costs; however, it will come with a 50 percent sell clause.

Athleticism claims there is a buyout clause in the contract if Wolves want to remove it at a later date.
