Le Creuset was at 33% for the first round, 50% for the second round, 75% for the quarter-finals and semi-finals before reaching full capacity of just under 1,000 for the final between Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy on Sunday 2 and Monday 3 May.

Findings from the government’s Events Research Program (ERP) included:

  • Indoor and outdoor events carry levels of transmission risk, but ‘pinch points’ in places where participants may congregate for long periods of time present a higher risk of transmission.
  • Large indoor events with high crowd density and proximity may present a potential risk of higher transmission due to proximity and poor ventilation
  • Mitigation measures such as face coverings, ventilation, testing, restrictions on food and drink, and social distances / capacity caps all helped reduce the risk of transmission.

“Our innovative and scientific events research program helps us better understand how the risk of transmission during major events can be effectively mitigated,” Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said.
