Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic has been linked with a long list of clubs over the past two years, with rumors becoming more and more intense now that his Serie A contract is about to expire.
Last week we covered West Ham United being named as one of the contenders for his signing as a free agent this summer. Now we see other clubs who like the 29-year-old.
Reports from Italy today suggest that besides the Hammers, Crystal Palace is also working to secure the defender, as well as a few Spanish teams.
The claims come from Corriere Dello Sport reporter Antonio Giordano, who says Maksimovic still has some hope that Napoli can make another offer for a new contract.
“Napoli are definitely looking for one or two defenders, with the departure of Maksimovic. Would he like to stay? I think that is his wish and perhaps he also carries with him the regret of not having accepted the renewal a year ago ”, Giordano told Radio Marte (via Naples region).
And when it comes to which clubs want the defender, Giordano has put together the full list.
“He received offers from Betis, Sevilla, West Ham and Crystal Palace but didn’t decide. I guess he’s waiting for Napoli to think again.
So even though it looked like Maksimovic would be free to pick a new club this summer, it now looks like the player himself has doubts about leaving Serie A. Crystal Palace and West Ham have compelling arguments for get him out of Italy.
