CHICAGO – UTSA’s season opening in Illinois on Saturday, September 4 will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network with a kick-off time at 6:30 p.m., network officials said Thursday.

The Roadrunners will open their 11th football season and sophomore year under the direction of the head coach Jeff Traylor the first Saturday in September against the Fighting Illini at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. It will mark the first meeting between the two schools on the grill and the first UTSA football game against a member of the Big Ten Conference.

UTSA will host Lamar in the home opener on September 11 at the Alamodome, then host Middle Tennessee in Alamo City for the USA Conference cover lifter the following Saturday.

The Roadrunners will withdraw from the conference for a road date with Memphis on September 25, followed by a home game against UNLV on October 2.

UTSA will then hit the road to take on enemy C-USA East WKU on October 9 and host Rice on October 16 before a pair of road contests at Louisiana Tech (October 23) and UTEP (November 6).

The Roadrunners will close the home selection with Southern Miss on November 13 and UAB on November 20.

The regular season finale is scheduled for November 27 in North Texas and the C-USA Championship game is scheduled for December 4.

A schedule of additional game shows will be released at a later date. It is important to note that the games are subject to date changes in order to accommodate national television.

UTSA has just emerged from a 7-5 campaign that ended with the program’s second appearance in the bowl, a narrow 31-24 pullback against Louisiana No.16 in the SERVPRO 2020 First Responder Bowl on the 26th. December in Dallas. Traylor guided the Roadrunners to the second most wins in school history, the most wins by a freshman head coach and a second place finish in the C-USA West Division with a score of 5-2.

Season tickets for the UTSA 2021 home schedule are on sale now. The Roadrunners will host six games this fall at the Alamodome for what will be the 10th anniversary of UTSA Football’s first season.
